Check this link out too, http://www.fma-research.com/, this is who I did a little research for, didn't get what I really was after, but it was cool. To be honest, one of the main reason I wanted to chase this day is to see the cold front passage as it was forecasted to be so strong. The forecasted included ice and snow as well which added to the excitement of a possible winter chase as well. There was a 5% torn. risk which isn't horrible. I didn't chase with you guys 2-23 and the only tornado we saw on 4-21 was the one that about took me, Joey and Mike out on I-40 as we drove through the outer edge I believe. This is where a good dash cam could come in handy. We witnessed the tornado as it crossed north of I-40, but we were all in shock we didn't have time to get a pic of it. Actually I think Mike did if he still has it. Unfortunately I didn't get any good torn. pics this year, but have a few on video. This is something I plan to improve on next year. This was my first year to shoot video and I tried to get more video than pics. Next year my goal is to just let the tripod film while I snag several digital pics as well. Of course the Nickerson tornados were not photogenic much. I have some clips of it though along with Hill City and about 20 miles north of Greensburg as a new wedge developed after hitting Greensburg and traveled NE to just south of the city of Macksville. We only saw one tornado (the one that almost hit us on I-40) while you were on a better storm quite a ways north of I-40 near Dumas. This was the same day Tulia got hit a town south of I-40 I believe that was talked about on the Storm Chasers show on the Disc. channel. We saw a storm try to produce a tornado several times south of I-40 sometime after 6pm. The storm never did tornado, but the other one did just over I-40 and we didn't know it until it was almost too late. 3-28-07 was another day that could have been. I chases with you and Mike. This was the day we took that road that turned to dirt and missed a few tornadoes. Oh well, this was the best option to get south and Street Atlas showed it as a good road all the way to where we wanted to go. The guys we were talking to on ham radio just got lucky and took a road that was paved all the way to intercept the storm and that was pretty much that. We didn't see any torn. that day, but saw a storm try to develop a torn. several times so it wasn't a total loss. With this you'll be able to set the colors for pretty much everything. The other part of that is the ability to say clear all loaded data and then load specific sites/products. So you could create say a "Texas" script that would clear anything already loaded and then load up base reflectivity for all of the radars in Texas(I should note that the "clear" would just be another command so you can have one script clear and one not or whatever). I think this will be powerful enough to do everything required and it solves the problem of how to make a "default" radar when the program is started. It'll just be a default script that the user can make to load however many products/radars s/he desires. Also are the county lines to hard to see? I just recently, past two days, redid the county/text colors because before the counties were filled with white and the text was black. This ended up with the text being unreadable when actually displayed over radar data so I had to change the colors. I'm still working on defining default colors for everything. There was a slight bug with it(now fixed) but the first time you mouse over a radar site it won't popup you just have to move it off and back on. Chris and I chased North of Dallas on 11-29-2007 for the most part it was a bust! But on the way back we drove through a historic ice storm, we had to chip ice away form the car and dump anti ice on the windows! the antennas had 2-3" of ice on them! To top it off once i dropped him off in NE OK i had to drive home to Pittsburg, KS not even 10miles into the drive I spun out and slid into the ditch! what a mess! I think it took us 12-13 hours to get back! -- Tyler Costantini -------------- next part -------------- A non-text attachment was scrubbed... Right now I'm leaning towards data service, however I really don't like the idea of paying $60/month for unlimited data service that I won't even be using during the winter months. With the data plan, can you downgrade to the cheaper package? I know with AT&T they have an unlimited data for $60, but then they have the 10MB plan for $30.. I'm not sure who all uses AT&T as their data provider, but I'm just curious if AT&T - or maybe other data providers - would let you downgrade from the $60 package to the $30 package? -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed...
